  • first impressions.. part deux

Thanks to those who gave feedback about the first impression thing. I myself believe that first impressions are totally overrated, but they exist for a reason. The example of job interviews was mentioned, where essentially all you get is the first impression. But in terms of meeting people socially, should it be different?

I argue yes, but indeed, most people, in practice, seem to think otherwise.

cucumberlove says that one should be oneself when meeting others. My main problem is that nerves get the better of me, and I act uncharacteristically *unlike* myself, lol.

It takes more than a few tries for me to get used to something new; I suppose it's just another one of those things.

  • i think 1st impression matters, but shouldn't count for everything. i find myself being many selves when among different groups of ppl, especially for the 1st time and of course that doesn't speak for all the me :)

  • i'm the same way.  when anyone really meets me for the first time, it's definitely not what i'm really like.  i think with some people, or maybe i'm just talking out of my butt here, you need a few meetings to get to know.  it's weird cuz with others, you can kinda get a good feel for what they're like in the first meeting.

it's a little rare to find a person you can click with on the first try.  but sometimes you just get that feeling that this person is definitely worth knowing so you know, you kinda make a mental note to yourself to try to get to know that person more later.

i think i'm just rambling now.

is thesentiment wanting to get out there and meet some new people?  lets find you some hot girls, lol.  but really, meeting new people is cool.  and i forget sometimes that there are actually people cooler than us out there, haha, j/k.
